"Where there is light, shadows lurk and fear reigns... yet by the blade of Knights, mankind was given hope..."—Ward Sexton
GARO focuses on the life of Kouga Saejima, who assumed the title of Makai Knight to protect humanity against dark demonic manifestations called "Horrors." In his quest to purge them, he encounters a young girl named Kaoru whom he saved from a Horror, but was stained with its demonic blood. As a rule, those that been stained by the blood of a Horror shall be cut down, or else they will die painfully in approximately 100 days. Kouga had mercy upon her and tries to find a way to purify her before her remaining time expires. Thus, the series focuses on Kouga's developing relationship with Kaoru and his stand in protecting humanity after the wishes of his father, who was his predecessor with the title of GARO. The series was created and chief directed by Keita Amemiya (Kamen Rider ZO, Zeiram). It is directed by Makoto Yokoyama (Power Rangers) and Kengo Kaji (Uzumaki).

OMG! This is something you would never see me normally watch in my lifetime. I thought I'd find a show that myself and my older two boys would like. Well, they got bored because it was too "lovey" and left me to watch it myself. I LOVED IT!
This show was like a cross between Power Rangers and some romantic sci/fi with some topless nudity! The drama had a great premise. The show was never boing in any way, shape, or form. I mean, come on, you can't help loving the karate moves of Kouga and Rei. Between the two, *sigh*, left me in a hot sweat! Then the love story between Kaoru and Kouga, it progressed so smoothly. You couldn't help but love the way Kouga grew to eventually love her even though he never said the words. I think the most he said to her was "I need you." At the end of the special, well.....I can't say but I was looking for a little physical action. Ya know a kiss wouldn't have hurt. I hope they make another season. That would be good. Ah, but that is usually me dreaming.
If you aren't afraid to give it a try...go for it. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Guys and gals, both, will love this because you all get what you want.
Fujita Rei
First saw him in RH Plus. I really loved that show. So different but more for the preteen, idol set. Totally different genre instead of the same old, same old.
Konishi Hiroki
He doesn't have the "classic" hottie look but his personality makes you melt with the character he plays. Okay the stunts turned me on quick. LOL! He grew on me...now I'm looking for more stuff from this cutie!!

Okay, let me just start by replying to this post, as well as sharing some of my own personal opinions regarding "GARO". *lol*
Though maybe I'm a little too late when it comes to the date, by some years off someone might add. *chucles*
Nonetheless, it's better late then never, right? (-_^)
However, I must warn you though, this is going to be a long reply. So be forewarned. Read it when you have the time to spare. *lol*
When I read through this post, I realized that we two almost had the same experience regarding our encounter of this show. I don't really remember the exact moment, nor the reason why I decided to watch the show in the first place. Like you, this is a kind of serial that I don't usually watch, nor have any interest in. However, for some unknown reason, I decided to give it a try. Then it just happened. Now that I think back, it must have been at the scene where "Kouga" first appeared. All those movements that he did completely amazed me and just pulled me in closer. Then there's that scene at the gallery, where he really showed off his fighting skills, and that's it. The show has completely caught me in its grasp. *lol*
Moreover, I'm kind of a person that's more drawn to action series than anything else. Thus that must have been the main reason why I got hooked, and still am, on this show in the first place. When "Kouga" did all those fancy fighting movements, I simply seeing stars. 'lol' (*o*)
Afterwards, the storyline between "Kouga" and "Kaoru" kicked in, and my heartbeats just simply gotten faster. (^-^)
I really like the way they develop the relationship between these two characters. Nothing is expressing concrete, nor made obvious by words. Except for one single scene towards the end of the serial, where "Kouga" told "Kaoru" explicitly that he needed her, although he didn't specifically mention why, nor for how long. *lol* Nonetheless, it's quite obvious what he meant. (But hey, when a guy is willing to risk everything and anything to keep you safe, does it not say it all? (^-^);; Really, what more do you expect from a man these days? *lol*)
Thus due to such wordless, yet so obvious actions, we can clearly see beyond any shadow of a doubt what's going on between these two. Their strong emotions and caring actions they had for one another were simply too hard to pass by.
However, if even those moments weren't enough to show off their feelings. Then allow me to mention the scene where a "kiss of soul" was exchanged. *giggles* (-_^)
Finally, I just want to mention that I really enjoy reading your short, yet expressible review about the show, as well as your personal opinions.
P.S. Sorry about this long reply. (^_^);;
Seeing you around (^-^)
