Set during the Joseon Dynasty, Ryung acts as a useless gangster in the marketplace by day but at night he is a chivalrous robber who robs corrupt government officials to give to the poor. After each robbery he leaves behind a wooden branch from a plum tree at the site of the robbery to take responsibility for the robbery. The poor citizens only know him as Iljimae. Bong Soon is a hilarious girl with good martial art skills and lives as a swindler. She only loves Ryung and sacrifices her whole life for him. Eun Chae is a government official's daughter and is good in nature and usually helps miserable people. She meets Iljimae once by chance, and their sweet love story begins. However, her love puts Iljimae in a dangerous situation because an Imperial Guard also loves her.




Wow! I loved this drama. My kids would get sick of me every Thursday or Friday when crunchyroll.com would submit the newest episode. "Iljimae!" I'd yell, scream and/or cry. LOL!
Okay, seeing Lee Jun Ki lookin' his awesomest with that pretty, long dark hair gave me the lovely willies. LOL! I love his hair long. But enough about how cute he is....y'all can obviously see for yourselves......

I'll admit the first few episodes bored the living daylights out of me. I understood they were setting up the story. It took a lot out of me to watch that part. But once Geom/Yong-ee/Iljimae grew up......it got livelier and exciting. I'll admit I was routing for Yong-ee and Bong Soon. Eun Chae was just toooooooo nice. Kind of made me sick to my stomach to how sweet she was. Bong Soon was lively, funny, and a spit-fire. Perfect for Yong-ee.

The fighting scenes were fun to watch and as the story progressed my stomach got the twitters because I didn't want the episode to end. Again, as the week was ending, I was all over the internet looking for the latest episode. And, yes, I'm downloading the entire series per bittorrent.

Now let's talk about the ending. In perfect Korean fashion, it wasn't all that. Don't get me wrong, the series was freakin' awesome but I knew that once the ending came I wasn't sure sure how it was going to end. Well, it wasn't sad or a happy ending.....really, I think they set it up for another season. I didn't feel there was a conclusion to the story. Now if they did another season, I don't think Lee Jun Ki would come back because of his popularity and awesomeness. LOL! Ah, but if he did....well, I'd be on the Iljimae train wagon all over again.

This was so much fun......and it finally ended. *sigh* What am I going to do now? I still have 2 perfectly good series I'm watching now but they are also about to come to a close. *sigh*

Okay, I had to put him in here. He's such a cutie in the show. I hope to see more of him in the future. He might have been a little bit of an ass on the drama but he made up for it well in the end.......

He's the only son of a mother who runs a hair salon while also being the "best fighter" of Moonduk High School. His name's Joong-pil, and his days are really tough. But the most important part of his day is going to school. Firstly, to meet the expectations of his followers and to frequently make his presence known, he has to fight other groups trying to take over his position. He also has to look after the rooftop of the school building which is used as their hideout.
But one day, Cupid's arrow unexpectedly strikes Joong-pil's heart who before had nothing to worry about and fear. It's Min-hee, the prettiest girl of the neighborhood girls high school, Jeonglan. But not long before his pink puppy love starts, his cozy life becomes threatened by a newcomer. One day, Joong-pil hears that a transfer student named Sang-man suddenly appeared like a gushing storm and wants to take over the school. Not only the students, but even his righthand man Soo-dong try to incite a fight between Joong-pil and Sang-man, which would become a legend in itself. But strangely enough, Joong-pil seems to avoid getting into a fight with Sang-man. But two kings can¡¯t exist in one land, and the showdown draws closer...

Okay, this was toooooooo cute. I loved the story. Okay and I just love Ryoo Seung Beom.

The action wasn't all that but it really wasn't about that. The "king" of the school falls in love with a nerdy girl from another school. He slowly changes and does whatever he can to meet her and be with her. I really think the changes were a bit much for him because I don't really see that in modern society a person would change that much. But it was nice to see a guy go all out for a girl that wouldn't be a typical ideal for a guy of his stature.

There were many funny moments, this was a comedy ya know? Bong Tae-gyu was a hoot, as usual, who was a porno fiend. He and his friends made their own porno comics and sold them to other students. The antics they went through was hilarious.

This was a happy movie with an interesting twist at the end. Not what I expected but it wasn't a crappy ending....thank the Lord!!

Arahan ( Arahan jangpung daejakjeon /아라한 - 장풍대작전 -2004)

Okay first off......I really enjoyed this film. It was funny at the right moments and the action was really quite good. I loved the idea of Tao and the fact that we all have Chi that could for some change our lives. Imagine that you had undiscovered Chi in your body and when learned, you are able to accomplish things that you would never have imagined.

This was an ingenious plot. A great idea for a movie. Hero and Heroine save the world in a modern day setting. This movie is great for the whole family and worth watching again and again. I loved the moral values set in. (Yeah, okay....I like something with a learning value quotient. So sue me.)

The Beast and the Beauty (Yasuwa minyeo/야수와 미녀 -2005)

Dong-Gun has a serious complex of sorts. He has low self-esteem about his appearance, particularly a scar that sits next to right eye-brow. His world changes when he drives down a street and is flagged down by a beautiful girl that gets into his car. The girl, named Hae-Joo, is blind and mistakes Dong-Gun’s car for a taxi cab and asks him to take drive her to another part of Seoul. He immediately falls for Hae-Joo and realizes that Hae-Joo’s blindness would be perfect for him and his low self-esteem. Dong-Gun soon becomes Hae-Joo’s eyes, taking her to various places and describes what everything looks like to her. When Hae-Joo asks Dong-Gun what he looks like, Dong-Gun inexplicably describes someone from his high school that he looked up to. His name ws Jun-Ha. They soon fall for each other and see each other day for 3 years. Everything changes once Hae-Joo receives a phone call from her doctor. The doctor tells her that a donor has been found and she can soon see again, once she has an operation. Dong-Gun again feels like the Beast and he doesn’t know what to do once the Beauty gets her vision back. Things are further complicated when Dong-Gun’s high school friend, Jun-Ha, randomly crosses path with Hae-Joo and falls for her as well. -- Lunapark6



This was a sweet and wonderful movie. Very realistic for the fact that if my boyfriend had been blind and was given the gift of sight, I know for a fact I would be scared to death if he thought less of me for how I looked. Who could blame Dong-gun?

In defense of Jun-ha, us girls think of guys differently. Obviously. I mean think of all of the beautiful models who are dating or married to the weird and ugly guys out there. Us girls will eventually find the beauty in a man differently than a man does a woman. Jun-ha loved Dong-gun for the way he cherished her and loved her. And again, that is all we girls want from a man....okay, most of us anyway.

This movie relays that message that beauty doesn't always come in the form of a perfectly handsome face but in the aura and heart of the way a person in treated.

Beauty is in the "eye of the beholder."

This movie was a riot! I really enjoyed this.

If given the chance to comeback to make amends with my loved ones, I couldn't do it. Or maybe?

Won-tak's father was so outdated because he had spent most of his life in prison. So imagine coming back almost 20 years later to "see" your son and everything is almost computerized, economized, self-serve. Oh this was a hoot.

But like any good movie, there would have to be a sad part. And dang it, I pickin' them good. Of course, Won-tak's father eventually has to go back and make his way to heaven. The ending was glorious! I was sobbing yet again. And this time it wasn't just for Won-tak and his father. The "Angel" was once a human before going to Heaven. He sees this girl and we later come to find out that it's his daughter. Tear jerker!!!! Beware!

And on a happy note, I was so, so, so, so happy to see Lee Min Woo! I love Shinhwa and now one of their biggest fans. I've fallen for Jun Jin and to see Lee Min Woo....*sigh*...I think I'm in Heaven!

The bushes beat back, and Tae-su barely escapes a swarm of teenage hoods with the able assistance of Seok-hwan. The stakes are raised, the pieces are coming together, and the scrappy quartet of buddies is beginning to fall apart. Before long, Tae-su and Seok-hwan will charge headfirst into a sea of enemies, battling their way to the core of a corrupt, criminal empire with every last ounce of strength they have.



All I can say is........is WOW!! This is a totally cool movie of Korean whoop-ass! The fights were awesome. Totally in sync, choreographed perfectly. It was so good that my husband caught half of it and actually lied down beside me to watch it and he NEVER watches my Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese stuff with me. He even said that he was amazed at how good this was. So that is another "thumbs up" for this movie. Sugoi!

There were a few funny scenes. A flashback when the guys were in high school and got caught by a gang and were buried neck down in dirt. They didn't want to look like wimps crying for help so they sang songs at the top of their lungs to catch attention. LOL! And the scene near the end when Tae-su and Seok-hwan are fighting their way to Pil-ho and end up in a room of couples eating. Let's just say the females in Korean tradition quietly left the room and the men stand up with knives and the dynamic duo have a look of utter annoyance. Too funny! Oh, but the action was totally wonderful. A definite guy movie but I, a female, loved it too.
