Set In 1980, Ho Chang works as a staff member for a college baseball team. He’s planning a dream vacation but his plans get derailed by a new assignment. He’s ordered to scout Sun Dong Eul, the most sought after high school baseball player in Korea.
Ho Chang goes to Kwang-Ju to scout Sun Dong. He finds it more difficult than expected as rival scouts from other universities are hindering his plans. Furthermore, he meets his ex girlfriend and her low-life boyfriend who starts threatening Ho Chang.
To make things worse, the baseball player’s parents do not appear to be on Ho Chang’s side. Rumors also say that Sun Dong was already scouted by rival teams. Ho Chang is unable to even get a meeting with Sun Dong, so Ho Chang takes matters into his own hands. He decides to kidnap him! -- Lunapark6


Hmm? Not so sure about this movie. Yeah, it had some comedic moments. Yeah, there were some tears. Yeah, some action too. But there was just too much going on. I didn't realize this film would have historic moments in Korean history. I'm still learning this stuff myself. But I haven't read anything about the Korean Martial Law enforcement in any review yet. I'm sure there are some out there but I just like the short and sweet ones because some of those reviews give out toooooooo much and the movie then becomes ruined.

In this case, though, I thought I would be seeing a typical Korean comedy and that wasn't so. All of the sub stories within the main story were falling apart. The "love" story, well, that was messed up. Did she love him or not?

Anyway, it was alright but I was looking for the typical comedy, romance thing and got a history lesson instead. Damn! This wasn't a dud like the previous movie I've already mentioned but I was looking for a happy and bright...not reminiscent and meloncholy. Errrgh.

During the early 80’s in a small village in South Korea, Haejok, Pong-pal and Song-gi are three good friends trying to complete their studies, but not without regular trouble. On a casual day, Haejok runs into a mysterious young girl, which he immediately falls in love with. But his attempt at trying to talk to the girl fails miserably. Trying to deal with the case of that mysterious home town girl, Haejok and Song-gig notice that Pong-pal didn’t show up in school for the last few days. They will learn later that Pong-pal`s father had a terrible accident and he and his sister now have to work to pay the regular bills and also for the hospital fees.
But the worst is that the mysterious girl is in fact the sister of Pong-pal, she now has to work has a hostess in a popular disco bar owned by a powerful gangster and there is no way she can get away from that job. The only proposition that the boss is willing to accept is if Haejok can win the upcoming Disco contest, he will free Pong-pal`s sister from her work. Unfortunately for Haejok, he’s a really bad dancer and the contest is in a week away!

Hmm? How to describe it? Well, it started out rough. It wasn't really funny at first. It was quite boring. It took forever to get to the "real" story.

Ho hum. The only really, really good part out the whole thing was when we finally got to see Tae-jeok dance. Oh and what a body! *sizzlin'* I mean the dance wasn't even all that...it was pretty good but with that body of his...if the dance had been more elaborate....*sweatin'* just thinkin' 'bout it. Oy!!

Chang Hu (Yim Chang Jung) finds himself on the verge of poverty, as he struggles to make ends meet, while keeping his financial difficulties a secret from his dutiful, cheery wife Seon Ae (Seo Yung Hi). Chang Hu is being hassled by Seong Won (Kim Su Ro), an embittered ex-basketball player-turned-debt collector, who is surprised to learn that he's got a six-year-old daughter (the adorable Kim Yu Jeong), who just so happens to be suffering from a life-threatening medical condition. While in the hospital, she's often visited by her "boyfriend", a young boy who turns out to be the son of a sassy divorcee named Yu Jeong (Uhm Jung Hwa, from Singles). While appearing on a television show, the ballsy doctor finds herself butting heads with Detective Nah (Hwang Jung Min, from You Are My Sunshine), a tough-talking, Rambo-loving cop whose experience with the ladies is practically nil. Of course, the bickering twosome soon find they may like each other more than they think.

But that's only half the cast. Yu Jeong's ex-husband is shown to be an uptight music industry big shot named Jo (Chun Ho Jin), who has to confront his gay past head-on when he hires a male housekeeper (Kim Tae Hyun). The film's other two stories include one about nun-in-training Su Gyeong (Yoon Jin Seo) who falls for a fading pop star named Jeong Hun (Jung Kyung Ho), and another tale about an elderly theater owner (Ju Hyun) who takes a shine to the vivacious, but aging actress (Oh Mi Hi), who runs a coffee shop located on his property.

As the film proceeds, the narrative strands begin to cross as the events of each story begin to have consequences for the other characters, all of whom are, in their own way, trying to find happiness in an increasingly uncertain world. Loneliness, unemployment, strained family relations, and impending death are just a few of the not-so-pleasant themes that resonate through many of the tales spun in All For Love.



The premise of this movie was like no other Korean drama/comedy movie. At first, they had several stories that were a collage of scenes and left your brain trying to figure out what goes where, and who belonged to who. But as the movie went about it's business, all the scenes started to mix together and make more sense as you started to relate to what was going on.

I loved how they figured out how to make all the couples and relationships come together. My favorite couple were Su Gyeong (nun to be) and Jeong Hun (pop star). I wasn't too happy how they had this relationship end but the others ended on a better yet happier note.

If you can get past the mosaic of relationships at the beginning, you'll really like this movie. It does take awhile to catch on but the stories come together and you find yourself routing for all or one of the couples. Really nice and sophisticated type movie. Totally wonderful way of putting a movie together. Real cool!
